SMW TV #47 (12/19/1992)

Taped 11/23/1992 at Clairfield Elementary School, Clairfield, Tennessee. Aired on 12/19/1992.

Bob Caudle and “Dirty” Dutch Mantell are on commentary. Mantell shows off his Mirage jacket. He also mentions he’s going to talk about the controversy of Tim Horner stealing the SMW Heavyweight title from The Dirty White Boy as he interviews Tim Horner on this week’s “Down & Dirty w/ Dutch” segment.

Caudle then sends out to a feature about the upcoming “Beat The Champ” TV title. They announce the rules for the first participants to determine the first champion and then give out details on what the rules are for that champion. The TV Champion will defend the title weekly against a new challenger chosen at random with each victory worth $1,000! Five straight victories wins and additional $5,000. The champ retires undefeated. If the Champion is defeated prior to winning five straight, the new champion then continues on with the same rules applying to him. Title can only be changed by pinfall or submission. If there is a DQ or count-out, champion is given the win.

“Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff (w/ The Dirty White Boy & Mr. Ron Wright) vs. Reno Riggins

Paul Orndorff shoves Reno Riggins to the ropes but breaks cleanly. Riggins with a hammerlock on Orndorff. Fireman’s carry takedown by Orndorff followed by a good exchange of counter wrestling. Orndorff catches Riggins with a knee into the mid-section and starts to stomp and kick at him. Orndorff turns to The Dirty White Boy who cheers him on.

Orndorff chokes Riggins in the corner. He mocks the fans a bit. Riggins gets in some punches on Orndorff but Paul catches him with a forearm to the head. Orndorff whips Riggins into the ropes but Riggins nearly gets a pin on Mr. Wonderful. Riggins gets fired up and that sends Orndorff to the outside as he tries to slow down the action.

Mr. Wonderful gets back into the ring while Riggins is distracted by The Dirty White Boy. Riggins gets Orndorff in a side headlock. Orndorff with a leg takedown but Riggins counters and gets him back in a hammerlock. Orndorff reaches the ropes and gets in a cheap shot on Riggins. Elbows to the face of Riggins! He chokes Riggins in the corner again with his boot across his neck.

Big knee drop by Orndorff on Riggins. He whips Riggins into the ropes but misses a dropkick. They exchange punches! Riggins whips Orndorff into the ropes and catches him with a dropkick. Orndorff reverses a whip into the corner. Riggins jumps over the corner and runs to the other corner and climbs up. He hits Orndorff with a top rope cross body block for a pin attempt but Orndorff reverses and covers Riggins for the pin. Good match.

WINNER: Paul Orndorff

Paul Orndorff, The Dirty White Boy & Mr. Ron Wright join Bob Caudle for an interview. Caudle asks about their upcoming match against Ronnie Garvin & Tim Horner. The Dirty White Boy mentions that he wants his belt back. Mr. Ron Wright wants to talk to Bob Armstrong so they can get back the SMW Heavyweight Title. The Dirty White Boy calls Tim Horner a thief.

SMW Commissioner Bob Armstrong interrupts and The Dirty White Boy tells him that he wants his belt back. Armstrong tells him that he has looked for the belt and can’t find it and he has asked Tim Horner for the belt and Horner said he doesn’t have it. He suggests a singles match between the two for the title but then suggests that they put the SMW Heavyweight title in the tag match at Christmas Chaos. The Dirty White Boy doesn’t think that’s fair. Armstrong then suggests that he’ll put the SMW title up on the line for the first 30 minutes of the tag match.

Paul Orndorff calls Tim Horner a thief and also insults the fans. They all throw a tantrum with Orndorff yelling that he wants his robe back while The Dirty White Boy yells that he wants his belt back.

Promos for Barbourville, Kentucky show with The Dirty White Boy telling Bob Caudle to shut-up and then insulting Tim Horner. Jim Cornette follows talking about the Heavenly Bodies against The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express.

Tracy Smothers video is shown. It opens with music followed by a profile on Smothers starting with his early life and goes thru his career.

Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden join Dutch Mantell and Bob Caudle for an interview. Fuller asks Mantell that he had promised things were going to change for them and they would receive a tag title match but nothing has happened. Golden chimes in saying they’re still on the same boat. He mentions beating everyone they’ve faced and believe Bob Armstrong is scared to give them an opportunity. Mantell says that he is still investigating because he does think something is wrong that isn’t allowing the Stud Stable to get a shot.

They show a recap of the attack on Brian Lee by Kevin Sullivan and his disciples. That’s followed by Brian Lee talking about returning at Christmas Chaos after being out of action for six weeks. He says the doctor told him his guts wouldn’t be ready for Christmas Chaos but Brian Lee says he knows his guts and they’ll be fine.

They recap Kevin Sullivan vs. The Mongolian Stomper brawl. Bob Armstrong then joins Bob Caudle and Dutch Mantell and he says Brian Lee is coming back way too soon so the tag match between Kevin Sullivan & The Nightstalker vs. Brian Lee & The Mongolian Stomper will be non-sanctioned.

The Nightstalker (w/ Kevin Sullivan) vs. Daniel Little Bear

The Nightstalker quickly attacks Daniel Little Bear before the bell rings. He whips Little Bear into the ropes and slams him down to the mat. He refuses to pin Little Bear. Kevin Sullivan shows up holding a headstone with Brian Lee’s name on it. Sullivan talks to the headstone.

Suplex by The Nightstalker. He whips Little Bear into the corner and then catches him with a backdrop. Nightstalker climbs to the top rope and hits Little Bear with a clothesline. He tosses Little Bear to the outside. Sullivan grabs Little Bear and tosses him into the wall and a ladder. He grabs the Ladder and drops it on Little Bear. The bell rings as the referee DQs The Nightstalker.

The Nightstalker and Sullivan beat on Daniel Little Bear. He gets tossed back into the ring. The Nightstalker powerbombs Little Bear. One of the referees tries to protect him but he gets pushed away. Clothesline by The Nightstalker. He grabs the headstone.

WINNER: Daniel Little Bear via DQ

Kevin Sullivan and The Nightstalker join Bob Caudle for an interview. The Nightstalker talks about learning a lot from The Master and he loves it. Sullivan says he’ll take all the responsibilities for Brian Lee’s health. He tells The Mongolian Stomper that he needs to see a psychiatrist and he knows one that did wonders for him and he’ll send him his card.

The band Sawyer Brown send their support for Brian Lee.

“Down & Dirty with Dutch” with guest Tim Horner. They show video of how Tim Horner took the title from The Dirty White Boy the previous week. Mantell asks Tim Horner where the SMW belt is and Horner says he doesn’t know where it is. He asks Horner if he took the belt which Horner says he did but doesn’t know where it is now. Horner says he won the belt but doesn’t know where it is at. Horner then talks about the tag team match where he’ll team with Ronnie Garvin against The Dirty White Boy & Paul Orndorff at Christmas Chaos. Mantell wants to know where Garvin is and he says he’s in Virginia hunting.

The Dirty White Boy and Paul Orndorff show up to confront Horner. He wants his belt back. Orndorff calls Horner a thief just like Garvin. Mantell tells them that Garvin’s not there and they attack Horner but Horner escapes.

Jim Cornette & The Heavenly Bodies join Bob Caudle. Cornette continues to work out. Stan Lane calls him the best conditioned man. He and Prichard talk about how proud they are of Cornette. Cornette says he’s going to keep training for Christmas Chaos. He says he’s been eating a lot of twinkies and oreos! He brings out a phone book and tries to rip it in half. He asks Lane what the trick is to ripping it in half and just rips a few pages out.

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson) vs. Paul Lee & The Dark Secret

Ricky Morton and Paul Lee start the match. Lee struts before the bell rings. Morton gets in a few right hands at Lee and catches him with a knee lift out of the corner. Lee catches Morton with a body slam but then misses a top rope legdrop. Lee heads to the outside and Morton chases. Morton gets him with an atomic knee drop outside the ring.

Lee heads over to his corner and tags in The Dark Secret who is met in the ring by Morton with an armdrag. Morton tags Gibson and they whip Dark Secret into the ropes and catch him with a double elbow. They then knock Lee off the ring. Follow that up with a double dropkick at The Dark Secret for the pin.

WINNERS: The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express join Bob Caudle and he congratulates them for being the new SMW Tag Team Champions. Morton talks about Cornette acting a fool a few minutes ago. They show off the tag titles. He says there will be chaos at Christmas Chaos.

Jim Cornette shows up and interrupts the interview. He climbs into the ring. Cornette asks Morton to hop into the ring if he’s up for it. Morton decides to head over. The Heavely Bodies attack Robert Gibson on the outside while Cornette hits Morton with a towel. In the towel is a Coca-Cola can!

More promos for the Barbourville show featuring Tracy Smothers and Tim Horner.

Jim Cornette, The Heavenly Bodies and Killer Kyle join Bob Caudle and Cornette is fired up after the attack on The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express. He shows off the coke can that he hit Ricky Morton with. Stan Lane then talks about how proud they are of Jim Cornette and how just a few weeks ago he could only beat up little kids and old women and now he just beat up on Morton.

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express attack The Heavenly Bodies during the interview! Wild brawl ensues. They head to the ring. Referee jumps into the ring.

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson) vs. The Heavenly Bodies (Stan Lane & Dr. Tom Prichard) (w/ Jim Cornette & Killer Kyle)

Bell Rings to announce this is now a match. Ricky Morton beats on Tom Prichard and backdrops him. Gibson tags in and catches Prichard with a knee lift. He slams Prichard and follows with a knee drop. Morton tags back in and keeps beating on Prichard.

Atomic knee drop on Prichard followed by a punch from Gibson. Gibson back in and he gets Prichard in an abdominal stretch. Lane tries to make the save but Morton punches him. Wristlock reversals by Prichard and Gibson. Gibson tags in Morton. The Heavenly Bodies regain control of the match as TV time runs out.


The aired the rest of the match the following week.

SHOW THOUGHTS: Good episode continuing to build some of their big feuds heading towards the Christmas Chaos show. The Orndorff vs. Riggins match was a good TV match. Riggins got a lot of offense in on Orndorff. A couple of short matches followed which led to the wild brawl and match between The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express and The Heavenly Bodies. That final segment was great.
