SMW TV #39 (10/12/1992)

Taped 10/12/1992 at Sand Lick Elementary School in Haysi, Virginia. Aired on 10/24/1992.

Bob Caudle and Dutch Mantell on commentary. Dutch Mantell holds up a poster sign that says “Don’t Believe A Word He Says” with an arrow pointing at the direction of Bob Caudle. Mantell then has more poster signs showing positive statements about himself. He mentions that he’ll have more news on The Master.

Ricky Morton comes out and joins Caudle and Mantell. He talks about the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express finally getting a shot at the SMW Tag Team Titles. Morton mentions that Robert Gibson’s mother had eye surgery recently and said Gibson was still traveling to the show.

The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Jackie Fulton) vs. Paul Lee & Mike Sampson

Bobby Fulton and Mike Sampson start the match. Bobby takes Sampson down. The Stud Stable join the announcing table to talk about The Fantastics. Sampson tags in Lee. Bobby tags in Jackie. Jackie goes for a sunset flip for a pin attempt on Paul Lee. Jackie gets Paul Lee in a Fujiwara Armbar.

Jackie tags in Bobby and he takes down Paul Lee with an armbar. He picks up Lee over his shoulder and drops him down the mat. Bobby tags in Jackie and he flips Jackie off the top rope with a senton onto Lee for the pin.

WINNERS: The Fantastics

They recap The Dirty White Boy and Tim Horner feud.

Tim Horner & The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express promos for an upcoming SMW show.

Tracy Smothers video promo about him coming into SMW after wrestling in WCW. He talks about being in WCW for a few years as The Southern Boys and later being told to change their names to The Young Pistols. He mentions that “Bullet” Bob Armstrong contacted him and told him he was headed in the wrong direction. He is excited to be joining SMW.

Killer Kyle (w/ Jim Cornette) vs. Robbie Eagle

Killer Kyle beats on Robbie Eagle. He lands a big forearm across Eagle’s head. Kyle with a big boot at Eagle’s head. He continues to punch Eagle and whips him across the ropes. Eagle kicks Kyle but Kyle charges at him and clotheslines him out of the ring.

Killer Kyle beats on Robbie Eagle outside the ring and then rolls him back into the ring. He slams Eagle and follows with a legdrop. He beats Eagle up in the corner and then whips him across to the other corner. Robbie Eagle moves out of the way of a charging Killer Kyle. He gets in some offense but Kyle catches him and slams him down for the pin.

WINNER: Killer Kyle

Ricky Morton joins Bob Caudle and he tells him that Jim Cornette thinks this is a plot by the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express. Morton tells Caudle that Gibson’s plane just landed and he is on his way.

“Down & Dirty” with Dutch Mantell and his guest is “Bullet” Bob Armstrong. He again offers The Master a chance to speak. The Nightstalker shows up with a note. He’s also joined by Malaki. In the letter The Master states that if Brian Lee can beat The Nightstalker on next week’s TV show, The Master will appear the following week and only if he can face Brian Lee one-on-one. Armstrong mentions that he still does not know who The Master is.

Brian Lee joins them and there is a tombstone with his name on it. Lee gets upset and vows that he will go thru The Nightstalker next week and will follow that up by going thru The Master the following week.

Ricky Morton joins Bob Armstrong, Bob Caudle and Dutch Mantell and Ricky tells Bob that he isn’t sure if Robert Gibson is going to make it on time for this match. He asks Armstrong if they could postpone the match for next week because of everything Robert Gibson’s had to go through with his mom’s surgery and traveling. Armstrong says he is okay with rescheduling the match to next week.

Jim Cornette comes out and brings out a contract and says the match has to happen today because it is the date that is written in the contract. He tells Morton that he has to have the match today or never so he better go find a tag partner.

They recap last week’s attack by Paul Orndorff on Danny Davis.

The Dixie Dynamite and Ronnie Garvin join Bob Caudle. Garvin talks about how far Orndorff will go and has talked to Davis family and heard he’ll be out for a month or two. He mentions that he feels responsible for what Orndorff did to Davis and will get revenge for him. The Dixie Dynamite agrees since he’s teamed with Davis and on this week’s show he’s going to get revenge for Davis.

“Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff vs. The Dixie Dynamite

Fans are heard chanting “Paula” at Paul Orndorff. He is very upset and covers his ears telling the fans to shut-up. Orndorff grabs the mic and tells Ronnie Garvin that until he gets his robe back, he’s going to take out all his friends just like he did Danny Davis. He wants a rematch against Garvin.

The Dixie Dynamite punches Orndorff a few times. He tosses him into the corner. Whip into the ropes and Dixie dropkicks Orndorff. He climbs up to the top rope and hits a bodypress on Orndorff for a near fall. Orndorff recovers and tosses Dixie into the corner and catches him with a belly-to-back suplex.

Orndorff follows with a couple of elbow drops on The Dixie Dynamite. He stomps on Dixie Dynamite. Fans continue to chant “Paula”! Sunset flip by The Dixie Dynamite on Orndorff but he blocks it. He lays in a knee to the back of Dixie Dynamite. Front facelock by Paul Orndorff. Shoulder block knocks down Orndorff. Dixie goes for a second attempt but Orndorff gets him with a knee into the midsection.

Paul Orndorff continues to beat on Dixie Dynamite. Ronnie Garvin shows up ringside wearing Orndorff’s robe. Orndorff goes for a piledriver but lets go of Dixie Dynamite to chase after Ronnie Garvin. Referee counts out Orndorff. The Dixie Dynamite wins!

WINNER: The Dixie Dynamite

The Dirty White Boy & Jim Cornette promos for an upcoming show.

Ricky Morton returns with Bob Caudle and says that Robert Gibson still hasn’t shown up so he thinks he might have to forfeit the match. Jim Cornette & The Heavenly Bodies join them and Cornette mocks Morton. He tells Morton that Gibson suckered him just like he did a few years ago (in WCW). He continues to insult Morton and says he has no friends and his family doesn’t care about him. Cornette tells Morton that the only person that talks to him is his daddy Paul Morton because he’s drunk all the time. Morton slaps Cornette! He then heads over to the ring to face both Heavenly Bodies.

The Heavenly Bodies (Stan Lane & Dr. Tom Prichard) (w/ Jim Cornette) vs. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson) for the SMW Tag Team Titles

Ricky Morton takes on both Heavenly Bodies on his own. He sends them both to the outside. Killer Kyle is also ringside. Morton with a hiptoss on Prichard. Dr. Tom tags in Lane. Morton with a shoulder block and hiptoss on Lane. Prichard runs in and he gets taken out by Morton. Morton with an atomic drop sends Lane into Prichard. Both Bodies head to the outside.

Ricky Morton keeps using his speed to escape The Heavenly Bodies grasp. Prichard and Morton reverse a wristlock a few times before Morton knocks him down. Morton with a monkey flip on Prichard. Lane comes back into the match as Prichard shows some frustration. Morton knocks Prichard to the outside but Lane shoves him to the outside. Prichard sends Morton into the ringpost. Prichard beats on Morton outside the ring. He punches at Morton’s forehead and he starts to bleed.

Morton gets back in the ring and Stan Lane continues the attack on hm. Kick to the mid-section by Lane. Prichard and Lane with a double-team move on Morton. Prichard and Morton exchange punches. Prichard whips Morton into the corner and gets him with a powerslam for a near fall. Lane comes back in and hits a chop off the ropes on Morton. Quick tags by The Heavenly Bodies. Rocket Launcher splash by Prichard for a pin but they decide to keep punishing Morton.

Prichard with a top rope knee drop on Morton. Robert Gibson runs out in his street clothes and attacks both Heavenly Bodies! Referee calls for the bell to ring. Gibson knocks down Cornette. Cornette and The Bodies start to beat on Gibson. Morton gets back up and hits Prichard with the tennis racket. Lane attacks Morton and gets the tennis racket back. Killer Kyle gets in the ring and he joins The Heavenly Bodies and Jim Cornette in their attack on The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express.

Several wrestlers run out to stop the attack but they get thrown out by Killer Kyle and Jim Cornette while The Heavenly Bodies continue to beat on The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express. Finally Brian Lee, Tim Horner and The Dixie Dynamite run out and clean house.

WINNERS: The Heavenly Bodies via DQ.

SHOW THOUGHTS: Good episode built around the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express vs. Heavenly Bodies match with Ricky Morton updating everyone on whether Robert Gibson would get to the show in time for the match. Gibson showed up late and they were destroyed by Cornette, The Heavenly Bodies and Killer Kyle. All the matches on the show were kept short and really nothing above okay level. They did continue to build up a few other feuds during the show.
