Boyd Pearce and “Cowboy” Bill Watts are on commentary. They mention that they’ll be showing highlights of matches from the Superdome. They show a video package of fans arriving to the Superdome show that was produced by Gordon Solie’s son.
Bill Watts mentions there was an unadvertised steel cage match held at the 4/16 Superdome Extravaganza. They start the Superdome highlights with the Mid-South Tag Team title match between Mr. Olympia & Ted DiBiase vs. Mr. Wrestling II & Tiger Conway Jr. Watts mentions while Mr. Olympia is taking a beating that Mid-South decided they had enough and wanted to settle the North American Heavyweight title situation between Mr. Olympia and The Junkyard Dog on that same day so Mr. Olympia ends up working twice on this show. Ted DiBiase and Mr. Olympia end up winning the match when Tiger Conway Jr. has Mr. Olympia in a Boston Crab and Ted DiBiase enters the ring with his loaded glove and knocks out Conway. Mr. Olympia puts him in the sleeper to get his team the win. DiBiase & Mr. Olympia retain the titles.
Bill Watts talks about how Ted DiBiase’s association with Gen. Skandor Akbar might be the end of the Rat Pack as Hacksaw Jim Duggan wants nothing to do with Akbar. They air a taped interview with Duggan who says he’s disappointed in his friend Ted DiBiase. He reminds everyone about how Teddy promised he wouldn’t work with Akbar but he LIED!!! Duggan tells DiBiase to go his own way and not let their paths cross. He calls Akbar rotten because he sees that he is a phony.Duggan says he’s proud of being an American and he takes it very personal who Akbar is associated with.
That is then followed by the Junkyard Dog vs. Mr. Olympia North American Heavyweight title match inside a steel cage at the Superdome! Junkyard Dog starts the match tossing Mr. Olympia around.Kendo Nagasaki gets involved and we don’t see what he did because he pulled the camera away from showing what he did. Mr. Olympia gets JYD in a sleeper but his shoulders are on the mat and JYD is on top so he gets the win. Mr. Olympia can’t believe he lost.
Gen. Skandor Akbar and Mr. Olympia do a post-match interview. Akbar says Mr. Olympia was denied the title. He brings up how Mid-South stopped payment on the check that was sent in. Akbar claims to have never seen an unadvertised steel cage match. Mr. Olympia yells out that he doesn’t get the money or the belt! Akbar warns Mid-South that his attorneys are working on it.
King Kong Bundy made a statement during an interview about a new tactic. He talks about being part of Devastation Inc.and talked about his new tactic known as the “Atlantic City Avalanche” and once everyone sees it there is no holding him back. He says no one is safe from it.
King Kong Bundy vs. Don Clark
King Kong Bundy knocks down Don Clark a couple of times to start the match. Big forearm across Clark’s chest.Bundy misses an elbow but Bundy recovers and chops and elbows Clark. He stomps on Clark and sends him head first into the top turnbuckle. Big knee across Clark’s head. Bundy’s relentless tossing Clark around the ring. He splashes Clark in the corner and then powerslams him to the mat. He asks for a five count and gets the win.
Watts then mentions that the powerslam was the “Atlantic City Avalanche” that to him it looked just like an “Oklahoma Stampede”.
WINNER: King Kong Bundy
“The Black Ninja” Kendo Nagasaki (w/ Gen. Skandor Akbar) vs. Ken Woodby
Nagasaki quickly catches him with a series of kicks. They exchange chops but Nagasaki knocks him down and continues his attack. He chokes Woodby and the referee warns him. More chops at Woodby from Nagasaki. He spun around and gets in another kick. More chops and Woodby gets tossed to the outside.
Hacksaw Duggan runs out and attacks Akbar and Nagasaki. He hiptosses Akbar out of the way. Duggan sends Nagasaki thru the ropes and that leads to Nagasaki getting his foot caught in the ropes. Ninja can’t escape and Duggan beats on Akbar and eventually tosses him out of the ring.
WINNER: No Contest
The Junkyard Dog vs. Ron Cheatham
The Junkyard Dog enters the ring with new music, Parliament’s “Atomic Dog”. Ron Cheatham gets in a cheap shot on JYD and when nothing happens to JYD, Cheatham heads to the outside. He gets back in and JYD beats on him and knocks him down with a headbutt. JYD whips Cheatham into the corner. Big forearm from JYD followed by a clothesline. The Junkyard Dog picks up Cheatham and slams him down with the Big Thump for the pin.

Mr. Olympia whips Crews into the ropes and elbows him. He whips Crews again into the ropes and gets in a punch at his mid-section. Atomic knee drop by Mr. Olympia and he gets another near fall. Dropkick from Mr. Olympia and another near fall only Crews reaches the ropes with his foot. Reverse chinlock by Mr. Olympia. Crews elbows himself out of the hold but Mr. Olympia quickly gets back in control of the match.
Mr. Olympia chokes Crews. He argues with the referee. Crews fires back and shoulder blocks him down. Mr. Olympia ends up catching Crews with a high knee. Piledriver from Mr. Olympia followed by the sleeper hold for the win.
WINNER: Mr. Olympia
Gen. Skandor Akbar joins Bill Watts for an interview. Akbar yells at Duggan for the dastardly attack. Ted DiBiase and Mr. Olymplia join him and Akbar tells them that he wants Duggan eliminated at whatever cost. DiBiase tells Akbar that he and Duggan have split up and they are going their separate ways but since he is a former member of the Rat Pack, he will not go after him. Akbar tells DiBiase that he’ll get the Ninja to go after Duggan.
SHOW THOUGHTS: Good episode. This is Duggan’s babyface turn as he does not like Gen. Skandor Akbar at all and wants to end Devastation Inc. They’re still keeping him and DiBiase away as Ted brings up their past as part of the Rat Pack but that will eventually change. It was cool seeing the extended highlights of the top two matches at the Superdome. JYD switching songs and them pointing it out was cool.
